INFO

Bite Me is a food culture festival coming to Asheville August 14 - 18, 2024. In recent years, food festivals have faced criticism for lofty promises that too often go unfulfilled. We don't blame the people; we question the model. What if “food festivals” weren’t merely a coded cash grab, but instead, were a celebration of foodways and the restaurants/chefs that narrate those stories? What if, instead of showing off who we already were, we amplified who we could be? What if elevated conversations around necessary rituals were in the hands of the people? So, let's try that.

Consider Bite Me a reclamation- an attempt to bring more compassion to capitalism by engaging makers, creatives, and businesses right where they are.

As a firm led by Asheville natives, we know what makes Asheville special. As a group of folks who've worked in every part of the food industry, we know what makes it hard. As neighbors, clients, and hungry patrons, we see what the community wants, and we know good food. Our mission is to create an event that pushes us forward. Something that feels nostalgic, innovative, and also... really fucking good. We want to celebrate where we are, illuminate the path to where we're going, and preserve the "juicy goodness" that has gotten us this far.

OUR GOALS

  • Be a poignant yet necessary sentence in the broader food conversation

  • Serve as a platform for the food community

  • Connect hungry people to delicious food

  • Bring new businesses to curious consumers

  • Create financially sustainable pathways for more people to share in the abundance of Asheville’s food scene

  • Activate more diverse spaces and forge deeper community connections

  • Tell bigger stories

  • Serve bigger portions

  • Have more fun and cheaper tickets

  • No big promises, just big efforts

We’d like to do ALL of this in a way that accepts the realities of the world we live in and yet, ensures that everyone who comes to our table leaves feeling both nourished and full.
